Getting started with StrikeUp

For: Everyone who is new to StrikeUpRequires: Nothing; the sign-up and sign-in pages are open to everyoneScreenshots show sample data

StrikeUp turns your API into an AI assistant that your customers talk to inside your own product. This section covers your first contact with it: creating your company’s StrikeUp workspace, signing in, bringing teammates in, getting back in when you forget a password, and protecting accounts with a second sign-in step. It ends where the real work starts: a setup wizard and an end-to-end guide that take you from your API specification to a chat widget running on your site.

The pages here come before, or sit around, the admin app itself. The sign-up, sign-in, invitation and password pages are open to anyone with the link; every other screen in StrikeUp needs you to be signed in, and StrikeUp sends you to the sign-in page whenever you open one without a session.

  • Bring your team in. Administrators invite teammates by email; each invitation link works for 7 days. Accept Invitation · Users.
  • Sign in and stay safe. Five wrong passwords in a row lock an account briefly, and two-factor authentication adds a code from your phone. Log in · Two-factor authentication.
  • Recover a forgotten password. A reset link by email works for one hour and also lifts a sign-in lock. Reset your password.

Each sign-up creates one company: your own StrikeUp workspace with its toolkits, widgets, settings and conversations, kept apart from every other company. An email address belongs to exactly one company, and you cannot move it to another. Company details live under SettingsCompany.

Every member of a company has one of three roles:

RoleWhat it can do
AdminChange every setting, invite and manage members, require two-factor authentication. The person who signs up is an Admin.
UserOpen every screen and read everything, but not save changes.
GuestThe same as User: read-only.

Whatever the role, everyone can change their own password and manage their own two-factor authentication. Administrators choose roles when inviting, under SettingsUsers. See Users.

A toolkit is one of your APIs, imported from its OpenAPI or Swagger specification. StrikeUp turns each endpoint into a tool the assistant can call, and every tool starts switched off until you choose it. A widget is the chat window your customers use; it is connected to one or more toolkits and is placed in your product with a short snippet. See Toolkits and The StrikeUp widget.

Your email address is your user name. StrikeUp ignores capital letters in it, so Anna.Becker@example.com and anna.becker@example.com are the same account.

StrikeUp has no plans or feature tiers: every page in this section is available to every company. Anyone can sign up; StrikeUp creates the company once you open the confirmation link it emails you. Signing in and resetting passwords work for every role; only administrators can invite people and require two-factor authentication for the company. The admin app follows your browser’s language, and messages from the server are in English.
